“Naples, June 2018. At the entrance to Room 203 in the Academy of Fine Arts a sign indicates Collection of discarded personal objects aimed at creating a "warehouse of humanity" for” The moon” laboratory directed by Davide Iodice.
It is a public call for participatory dramaturgy. It is an invitation to deliver waste and its history. Thus began my long research and creation work which I wanted to call The Moon. Waste is considered in its broadest, symbolic, affective, emotional sense: what one wants to get rid of, or what has been 'put aside', and extending the meaning, the rejection experienced and suffered. Rummaging, rummaging through the garbage of the city, in the 'deep', in the intimacy of the city. Rummaging through waste, in the removed, to understand the identity of the city, searching among the 'waste' for water, gold, copper, the feeling to contaminate and contaminate oneself. It is an anthropological research in method but poetic in direction. It is a dramaturgical research that is based on reality, looking precisely in reality from time to time for different 'co-authors' who contribute with their existential, testimonial and emotional contribution to a 'living writing' that feeds on themes, visions, thoughts, urgencies specific to our time. The peculiarity of this work of mine lies precisely in this way of going outside the confines of the theater to seek intensity and truthfulness in stories that I have collected in life. The main reference is canto XXXIV of Ludovico Ariosto's Orlando furioso. It is a bit like the search for wisdom among lost things, that wisdom that Astolfo searches for on the moon, the place where what is lost on earth gathers, a bit of a dustbin, a bit of an archive of humanity. Thus a collective psychoanalytic act is carried out, expressively transformed by the actors|performers here called upon to contaminate themselves with the psychological filth of a community to obtain from it an idea of the world, of society, a lost sense of identity, public, if not already that sense that Astolfo searches on the Moon where "everything that is lost, it gathers here".
